Sunday morning outside August 16th

Sunday morning outside August 16th

What a cool experience!  I recommend it heartily to all who are able to worship outside.  We had a perfectly clear blue day with a few clouds and a gentle breeze.  The church folks all responded really well to the invitation to get out of the building.  We passed out bottles of ice water and considered the far reaching message of redemption from John 3: 16.

We had different people read from several Psalms that drew attention to God’s interaction with His creation.  Funny enough, several families with children were camping this Sunday and couldn’t come.  But among the people seated and looking forward were children running about – trying to be quiet and I imagine hoping they were invisible to us adults.  That warmed my heart.  The children are not a distraction – especially in such a setting.  They’re one more reminder of God’s glory – creation and vibrancy.

Something that was a special by-product of the morning was the road crew.  The roadies came in at 7:30 with big smiles and laughter they loaded up chairs and platform materials to set up the parking lot.  In no time at all we were set up and then off to St. James Espresso for coffee and a fun time of fellowship.  I loved it in that these were a bunch of guys who would normally not find themselves working together – but did and had a lot of fun doing it.

So, all in all it was a great day and a real encouragement to look up and praise God together under a clear blue sky!
