I met Paris in Kirkland?

About two weeks ago, needing change for a $20.00 I stopped into The French Bakery in downtown Kirkland. It is located immediately across the street from The Heathman Hotel. I was greeted by Frederick the owner and found him to be a really nice guy and from France – including the accent! He explained the difference between a cannoli and French pastry. I was asking if there was a French equivalent. I bought an Eclair for Janis. She told me it was the best eclair that she had ever eaten. Frederick also gave me a complimentary cookie – filled with a jam. I gave the cookie to Lenore (my admin assistant) and she said it was just buttery goodness.
Since then, I have been back three to four times. The most recent was to sit down and enjoy French coffee. It was very smooth and wonderful. I sat along the window seats and watched the rain fall while digesting some issues that I am wrestling with at work. I needed a quiet place to think away from the distractions of the office.
I would recommend The French Bakery to anyone. They also have wonderful breads in addition to pastries. Kirkland certainly is filled with all sorts of small “diamonds in the rough” places.

Yum! I’m going soon! Have you tried their croissants yet? Gonna have to try an eclair too – this could be trouble!
