Vision Statement

Who is the First Baptist Church of Kirkland?
Outdoor Worship 09We are an independent Baptist church. We are located in beautiful downtown Kirkland and nestled in a growing community along the Eastside of Lake Washington.  It is our desire to share the message of God’s redeeming love and grace with the world.

First Baptist is a family of believers who have been called into a living and working relationship with Jesus Christ. Comprised of people from all walks of life (senior adults, young adults, married and singles as well as teens and children), we come together to provide a balanced picture of a church family that truly desires to be a reflection of the Body of Christ.

The Overall Vision of First Baptist Church:
“Making Disciples: Loving God, one another and the world”

We see the vision of FBC Kirkland as making disciples.  What is a disciple?  We believe that a disciple is a believer in the Person of Jesus Christ, the finished work of Jesus Christ and is a member of  the family of God (The Church).  The disciple’s spiritual life grows and develops  (ust as our physical body grows and develops)  both individually and in community with other Christians.

We believe God is calling our church family to instill three key elements into a disciple of Christ.  These elements are:

1.  Loving God (Matt 22: 37-40).  A disciple loves God with their all.

2.  Loving One Another (John 13: 34-35).  A disciple loves fellow Christians – learning to encourage and forebear one another.

3.  Loving the World (Ephesians 5: 1-2; John 3: 16).  A disciple imitates Jesus Christ and redemptively loves the people of this world to God.  The culmination of the loving God and loving one another should lead a disciple to love people (who don’t know God) to God.

Healthy disciples live lives transformed by grace, loving and serving the world around them, redemptively engaging their culture and growing in their relationships with one another.

We see a healthy disciple as functioning in all three key areas of life as shown below:
